Whenever the Princess of Wales steps out, we pay attention. Whether it’s her stylish red carpet gowns, like her iconic gold Jenny Packham gown, her daytime high street suit style for public appearances, or her dazzling collection of sparkling Royal jewels – we simply can’t get enough.
Recently, Kate attended the England vs Ireland Men’s Six Nations Rugby match at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium, where she sported another stylish ensemble. For the occasion, the Princess re-wore one of her favourite royal blue Alexander McQueen coats with a black turtleneck knit underneath. To show her support for the England team, she chose to accessorise with one of the team’s navy scarves that perfectly coordinated with her look.
The outfit was then finished with a navy blue DeMellier London bag, the Montreal Nano Bag in particular. The bag was the star of the show, as not only has Kate sported the style four times in the past four months, once to visit Charing Cross Hospital on January 8, Christmas Morning Service at Sandringham Church, and before that in November to visit Anna Freud’s children’s mental health charity, making it a go-to for the Princess.
DeMellier London The Nano Montreal
DeMellier’s Nano Montreal is the ultimate micro bag: ethically made, beautifully structured and surprisingly practical. It fits your essentials – phone, keys, cards – and can be worn cross‑body, on the shoulder or carried by its cute top handle. Small, chic and endlessly versatile.
As always with her outfits, Kate has set one of the biggest trends for the season ahead: the micro bag.

Her DeMellier London Montreal Nano Bag is known to constantly sell out after being pictured sporting it, so it’s no wonder brands are spotting the demand for this style and creating their own versions. The bag will set you back £330; however, as Spring approaches, many high street brands are offering similar alternatives for a fraction of the price.
River Island has a similar alternative that only costs £39, the Brown Small Top Handle Tote Bag. It comes with a bamboo-style top handle with a folder-over flap, it is a similar brown tone to the DeMillier London design, and has a popper fastening. It also comes with gold detailing with a cute charm keychain to complement the neutral colour.
Another similar design is the Valerrya Satchel Bag, which retails for £79 from Aldo. Whilst it has the same box, small design as Kate’s, it comes in a refreshing white tone with subtle gold metallic accents, with small studs and a removable satin pearlescent scarf and gold keychain. This is an elegant alternative that would be great for a variety of occasions, from garden parties, nights out, to even pairing with your wedding guest outfits.
If you want to get yourself a spring-inspired version, then New Look’s Stone Woven Floral Corsage Top Handle Bag, costing £23.99, is a brilliant option. It keeps the similar microstructured shape, but is made from a woven raffia-like material, immediately making this a great investment for the upcoming warmer months. It features floral appliques and a stone top handle, therefore making this a great go-to to accompany any look.
Keeping with being inspired by springtime, Charles & Keith’s Arwen Quilted Vanity Bag in mint green is a sure winner. Costing only £69, this ticks the micro trend, but adds a twist to the design by mimicking a vanity bag, so the edges are rounder, with a flat top. It keeps all your essentials secure with a gold two-way zip. You can use this to inject some colour into a monochrome outfit, or take it with you to more formal occasions.
Dune London’s micro version of their Deliberate bags is not to be missed. The extra small version costs £49 and is available in three colourways: pink, green, and our favourite that we’ll be adding to our baskets, metallic champagne. It has a woven texture with a subtle snake print embossed on to it’s surface to add a glam shimmer. It also has gold hardware with a detachable body strap and keycharm for added contrast.
So, whatever micro bag you pick up for the new season ahead, take note from the one and only Princess of Wales when pairing it with spring-inspired ensembles. Let the bag do all of the talking as it becomes your perfect accessory and new best friend.
