But are they worth the purchase? And do they really look that good in person? I tried them out for myself to find out.
My thoughts
As an AirPods fan I was sceptical that a pair of open-ear earbuds would do the trick for me – especially while commuting or in the loud office.
Would the sound be strong enough, with enough base and heart? Would the design stay on my ears and feel comfortable all day?
The answer to all of these questions truly surprised me, but let’s start at the beginning.
The case is as sleek and compact as my AirPods case, and upon opening you’re met with the stylish, criss-cross earbuds ready to be grabbed out.
Popping the earbuds on is simple, too, as the ball slots easily within the ear and the larger bean sits happily on the back. It feels like it shouldn’t fit so well, but it does.
Their lightweight design also means you could quite easily forget you’re even wearing them, meaning no more achy ears – a very appealing quality for me.
But what I love the most about the HUAWEI FreeClip 2s is just how sleek they look – especially when worn alongside my other jewellery.
These headphones literally blend in with my earrings – helped by the rose gold colourway that adds even more pop to my mixed-metal piercing stack. I’ve never really worn headphones that weren’t just boring block white or black, so I love the colour and shine the FreeClip 2s provide.
Let’s move onto sound quality – arguably the most important aspect of a pair of earbuds.
These earbuds boast an impressive open-ear design which allows you to hear your surroundings clearly while you listen to your music – but don’t let this fool you into thinking the sound quality isn’t there.
Crisp, clear and full-bodied, the buds’ sound quality is truly impressive, doing my playlists justice every time I pop them on.
Immersive and rich, the buds provide the full and dynamic sound that you’d expect from a cracking pair of headphones – which is particularly impressive considering the open ear-design.
Keeping me aware of my surroundings when I’m out and about is another benefit of these earbuds, and they really do help me make sure I’m more perceptive of any dangers.
Would I recommend these earbuds? Yes, absolutely. Not only are they functional and comfortable, but they look fantastic, too.
The numerous compliments I’ve received from people who mistook them for jewellery has been just another upside.
