Topshop has made its long-anticipated return to high street, and we couldn’t be happier.
The runway show over the weekend was impressive, and there are a number of items we bookmarked from the catwalk show. Thankfully, Topshop has its own website so you can shop the runway looks, and much more, now.
So, it’s unsurprising we have a long list of items in our shopping basket, including the Flood Length Cupro Maxi Bias Skirt, which we think looks very similar to Faithfull The Brand’s Elise Skirt – just £183 less.

Topshop Flood Length Cupro Maxi Bias Skirt
Crafted from a viscose and polyester blend, this floor length maxi skirt is lightweight and floaty. The maxi style skirt features a mid-rise waist and has been cut on a regular fit, which skims the body for a comfortable fit. It features a contrast stripe print on a diagonal, and is available in various colourways. It comes in UK dress sizes 4 to 18.
Topshop’s Flood Length Cupro Maxi Bis Skirt is a welcome alternative to the classic satin slip midi skirts we have lived in for years. Why? Because this design is longer in length, and offers a regular fit that allows this skirt to flow elegantly down the body without restricting mobility as much as the figure hugging midi bias skirt.
This design has been crafted from viscose and polyester blend, which combine to create a lightweight woven fabric that can see you through all seasons.
The skirt is a mid-rise design, though you can easily cinch it up higher for more coverage because there is length in the skirt to play with.
The Topshop design has a stripe front pattern, and it’s the blue, brown and cream variation that reminds us of Faithfull The Brand’s Elise Skirt. Though it is available in other colourways too.
Similar to Topshop’s design, Faithfull The Brand’s original design has been crafted for a dual fabric blend, but the designer variation blends cotton and linen, which is lightweight, breathable and ultra comfortable.
Though unlined, the material combined with the straight fit of this skirt lends itself to a floaty skirt.
The main difference is the Elise skirt is a midaxi length as it falls to the ankles, rather than the long length alternative.
While Topshop’s skirt is a slip on design, Faithfull The Brand’s skirt features a hidden zip closure, which offers a secure fit.
This design features a diagonal stripe, though it is a finer asymmetric stripe than Topshop’s variation.
The Topshop design is more inclusive as it is available in UK dress sizes 4 to 18, whereas Faithfull The Brand’s skirt comes in XS to XL sizes.
The other huge difference is of course the price tag; Topshop’s skirt costs £42, while Faithfull The Brand’s design fetches £225.
While you can style the Elise skirt with the matching bandeau top, which is sold separately, it can also be paired with a linen shirt, tank top, or oversize T-shirt. We would style the Topshop skirt the exact same way, but we would also pair with a chunky brown knit sweater in the winter and boots, so it is more versatile in our opinion than the designer buy.
