Didn’t think you’d fall for a viral brand? I was once like you.

As soon as I fell pregnant, I insisted I’d never fall for the allure of the TikTok-endorsed brands pumped through my algorithm. The ones promoted only by influencers, which are aesthetically pleasing but prompt scepticism about whether they’re practical, quality and worth your money.

One brand that seems to be bucking the trend (and causing me to eat my words) by being wildly viral but also, well, seemingly quite good, is Swedish brand Najell.

If you’re a parent or parent-to-be, you’ve probably spotted its famous sleep carrier popping up on your feed.

I remember the first time I saw the brand, which is gloriously chic and Scandi (and spotted on celebs like Lily Collins, who has the brand’s Rise carrier) while still, importantly, being practical. It was hard to swerve the buzz thanks to TikTok, but this time the hype went beyond social media when friends of mine regretted not buying the £145 carrier when they had a newborn, after hearing glowing testimonies from the most honest of reviewers: other parents.

Then Najell announced its latest wearable baby carrier, the Easy Vol. 2, right when I was hardcore researching baby carriers and before I knew it, the delivery man was dropping off my package.

The brand, which keeps simple product design at its core, already has a range of carriers, such as the Original and Rise, but it’s the revamped Easy that has been touted as ‘ the most comfortable and easiest baby carrier yet’.

Big claim!

 "(Picture:

It’s wildly easy to put on, thanks to the magnetic clips (Picture: Najell)

The aesthetics were noticed immediately, as it arrived in a lovely box with a thick instruction manual that’ll double as baby’s first nighttime book.

Unboxing the product, the carrier comes good to go and incredibly light, with a waistband that feels both structured yet flexible.

Albeit without actually being able to carry my baby in it yet (was I preparing this week with a weighty cabbage? I’ll never tell…), so far its ease of use has put it leaps and bounds ahead of most carriers I’ve tried out in stores.

A complicated carrier is a massive ick for me – one such that shall remain nameless took me five minutes to figure out how to get it over my head – so one that is not only ergonomic, but easy to take on and off and looks stylish on days you’ve not washed your hair shoots straight to the top of the list for me.

You’ve got 4 colours to choose from (Picture: Najell)

Najell’s baby carriers were the first on the market with a magnetic one-hand fastening that focuses on ease of use, and even without a baby in it, it’s clear that it’s incredibly easy to use.

I flung the matte black carrier over my shoulders and clicked it into place above my hips in seconds; I then used one hand to tighten the straps and click its magnetic fasteners into place.

Plus, it’s suitable for use from newborn up to around three years old without the need for inserts, which will save many families needing to invest in a newborn carrier or wrap for the first few months.

Speaking of investment, priced between £160 and £170, it’s hardly the cheapest carrier on the market, but it’s also not the most expensive I’ve spotted. With solid carriers sometimes only costing £40, it’s toward the pricier end, but it doesn’t come close to the £1,000+ you can drop on a designer one.

Najell Easy Vol 2

Pros:

Stylish, simple design; sturdy yet flexible feel; easy putting on/taking off (albeit tested without baby), magnetic clips, and adjustable sliders to choose position and support.

Cons:

Lack of crossable strap options and colour choices; price may be prohibitive those on a budget.

Where you can buy: The Najell Easy Vol. 2 is available now at najell.com and in Najell Stores.

Also, I’m not the biggest fan of the lack of crossable shoulder straps, due to a back yoke going between the two main straps.

While this won’t affect my husband, I have narrow shoulders and I can see this becoming a problem. Regardless, I do think for a newly released carrier, there should be an option for either format.

It would also score extra points with a more robust choice of colours. The Easy Vol 2 comes in only four colourways: Honey Beige, Leopard Cream, Agave Green, and Matte Black. Especially when other viral/influencer-loaded carriers on the market come with more patterns and colours, is it too much to ask for a bit of pizzazz in this department?

That being said, my qualms are hardly going to be dealbreakers for most. Certainly not for me.

I’m sure I’ll have several more thoughts once baby can actually go into the carrier, which I’ll update you on here, but when comparing the Easy Vol 2 to other carriers on the market I’ve tried, this one has me rethinking those other brands I’ve spotted on social media.

The Najell Easy Vol. 2 is available now at najell.com and in Najell Stores.
