We said it once and we’ll say it again. M&S is back bigger, better and stronger than ever after that cyber attack.

From the summer dresses, pretty pink frocks, to its sell-out Penny Loafers, and its impressive array of fashion staples, Marks and Spencer has fast become our go-to shopping destination for, quite frankly, everything.

Currently, M&S’ selection of coats has piqued our interest, from the viral Waxed Look Checked Utility Jacket that has sold out, to the new Cracked Pu Sb Blazer Coat, there are more coats in our virtual basket than there are days in the week, but we’re not mad about it.

The Cracked Pu SB Blazer Coat is one staple we predict will be the most versatile staple in your wardrobe you will no doubt get your cost per wear out of.

If, like us, you live in a blazer, then M&S’ Blazer Coat will be your fashion essential.

It boasts a relaxed straight fit, it falls just below the hips to offer enough coverage, though you can size up for a looser fit.

The Blazer features the classic blazer features, including a collared neckline, long sleeves and button front fastening.

But what stands this creation out in a sea of blazers is the cracked PU effect; it’s not a shiny patent blazer, squeaky leather design, or louche cotton variation. Safe to say it’s a niche design that is lacking in our closet, and we need it.

The blazer has been crafted from a polyurethane and polyester blend, which gives the illusion of a cracked leather finish that looks vintage, and it has a polyester lining.

The Blazer Coat is ultra versatile. It can be worn on its own, perhaps over a bralette or lace cami top and jeans, or a sheer skirt for date night. But it can also be styled for everyday wear over a T-shirt, shirt, roll neck jumper or a shirt.

It is available in UK dress sizes 6 to 24, though we recommend sizing up at least one size if you plan to layer clothes underneath, or want more room to move as this is not an elasticated jacket.

Let’s also not forget it’s £70, which we think is a reasonable sum for this premium-looking design. Wear it once a month from September, through the winter and into spring, and you’ve got your cost per wear out of it, though we know you’ll be hard pushed to limit it to a single monthly wear, it’s that good.

But this is not the only outerwear staple we have had our eyes on.

Green Faux Leather Textured Longline Bomber Jacket

Faux Leather Textured Longline Bomber Jacket

We think M&S’ Longline Bomber Jacket is more of a hybrid between a leather biker jacket and a bomber jacket. It features a relaxed fit, but when zipped up it creates that curved silhouette like the classic bomber jacket. It also boasts dropped shoulders, a funnel neck you can wear down or fasten up, as well as epaulettes on the shoulder. The sage green is a welcome alternative to the khaki green bomber and a traditional black biker jacket.

River Island has truly pulled out all the stops to deliver high end fashion pieces, but for a fraction of the price – and we can hardly tell the difference between the high street and high end versions.

We’ve seen a variety of designer-inspired bags and shoes from River Island of late, and there is no slowing down either, as we have spied another pair of luxury looking heels from the longstanding high street retailer.

River Island’s Buckle Slingback Heeled Court Shoes have caught our attention as a very similar alternative to Loewe’s Toy Pumps, just £781 cheaper.

Crafted from faux leather fabric with a patent yet cracked finish. These heels boast a round toe, with V-cut open top, and skinny 6cm heel that gets wider at the base. These slingbacks also boast a thick strap and chunky buckle fastening.

River Island’s Buckle Slingback Heeled Court shoes have been crafted from a faux leather fabric, which offers a patent finish.

They feature a round toe, and v-plunge open top, which gives a similar effect to show off your ‘toe cleavage’ like a plunge neckline on a dress – if you know what we mean. The slingback design features a thick heel strap and chunky gold-tone buckle for a secure fit.

Another standout feature is the skinny 6cm heel has a gradient, so the heel is wider at the end to help keep you on your feet. This is similar to Loewe’s heels, though the designer version features a ball-like stub at the base of the 4.5cm heel.

Made from high quality goatskin, these round toe heels are a fuss-free slip on design.  The standout feature is the skinny heel is fitted with an exaggerated round detail on the end. (Picture: Metro/Loewe)

The Loewe heels have been crafted from super soft goatskin, and boast a ‘petal-shaped toe’, which is essentially a round toe.

The Toy Pumps are a lip on design, and don’t feature the heel strap or buckle like River Islands, though we actually prefer that added detail.

Loewe’s heels are available in three colours, including black, white and burgundy, but are also available in blue denim fabric and higher heel heights.

However, Loewe’s heels fetch £825, which is a staggering sum compared to River Island’s heels that cost £44.

We would style both heels in the exact same way. Team the shoes with a pair of straight, wide, or barrel leg jeans, and a chic satin shirt for a fuss-free evening ensemble, or pair with a satin slip dress for an occasion such as a wedding or birthday.

We’ve got to stress that River Island’s heels are selling out fast.  The shoes are usually available in UK shoe sizes ranging from 2 to 9, but sizes are flying off the virtual shelves.
