Nail the Western style come festival season with this M&S jacket that could save you over £100

The Western trend has been on our radar, and creeping into our outfits, for some time now.
Whether you’re a fan of the coastal cowboy trend and want to take it further, have binged the full Yellowstone series, or have a festival coming up and the theme feels quite fitting, we have found the perfect fringed coat to take the theme even further.
M&S’ Suedette Fringed Jacket is the perfect layering item to see you through all seasons, and it’s more affordable than you think at £59.
The faux suede design has been crafted from polyester, and boasts a polyester lining too, which we love. But, we can’t help but see the resemblance to Free People’s We The Free Fringe Out Vegan Suede Jacket that fetches £158, or the real suede creation that fetches a staggering £548. M&S has saved us over £100, or almost £500 – depending on how you look at it.
M&S Suedette Fringed Jacket
This faux suede jacket has been crafted from polyester outer, and features a polyester lining. The long sleeve jacket boasts a relaxed straight fit, has a short collar detail, and fringing running midway along the back, as well as down the sleeves. Available in UK sizes 6 to 22.
We The Free Fringe Out Vegan Suede Jacket
This design is the faux suede version of Free People’s more premium real suede design – We The Free Fringe Out Suede Jacket. The faux suede design has been crafted from a polyester and elastane blend. It boasts a button front fastening, collar, long sleeves, as well as fringe detail along the back, chest, and down the sleeves. It also has a straight cut, longer length, and offers a relaxed fit. Available in numerous colours.
M&S’ design has been crafted from polyester, similar to the Free People design, though the latter has been blended with elastane for a little extra give. However, Free People’s faux suede jacket is unlined, whereas M&S’ creation is lined, which is a subtle detail we love and thinks it makes the jacket look more premium than its sub-£60 price tag.
Both designs offer a straight and relaxed fit, feature long sleeves, a short collar, as well as fringing running along the chest, back and down the sleeves on both arms.
The main difference is the length, collar, fastening and price, obviously. The M&S Suedette Fringed Jacket features two slip pockets, falls to the hips and has a zip-up fastening. While Free People’s jacket is longer in length – falls below the crotch and to the thighs – and features a button-up fastening.
M&S’ jacket comes in shade ‘blonde’, which we would describe as a soft stone hue, and is available in UK 6 to 22. While the We The Free Fringe Out Vegan Suede Jacket is available in five colours, including sand, tan, purple, grey and black, all of which are available in sizes extra small to extra large.
The other main difference is the M&S jacket is much more affordable than both of Free People’s designs. Pair with a bohemian dress, white broderie anglaise design, denim jeans and a white tank top and cowboy boots, or an A-line skirt, t-shirt and neckerchief, the style options are endless.

£30,000,000 designer outlet shopping centre to open in ‘charming’ UK town
While Tewkesbury is best known for its medieval history and mustard-making industry, a new shopping centre could soon transform the Gloucestershire town into a bargain-hunting haven.
Due to open in July, the first phase of the Cotswold Designer Outlet spans 119,150 sq ft of retail space – equivalent to about the size of Trafalgar Square – and 1,100 car parking spaces.
A number of fashion brands, including Calvin Klein, Tommy Hilfiger, Adidas, BOSS, Levi’s and Sweaty Betty, and food chains like Wagamama, Five Guys, Pret a Manger and Caffe Nero, are among the 44 businesses confirmed so far.
A flurry of additional brands are also said to have expressed interest in phase two of the £30 million project, which will extend the outlet provision by 50,000 sq ft to a total line-up of 90 stores.
According to Simon Tothill, property director at developer Robert Hitchins, more names will be shared in the coming weeks, and further expansion is underway to cement its status as a ‘go-to shopping destination for visitors from near and far.’
It’s not just shops either, with plans listing features from ‘motorway-pause’ walking routes and ‘chill out’ seating to play areas for both children and dogs.
Near junction 9 of the M5, the Cotswold Designer Outlet sits just outside ‘charming’ Tewkesbury.
This was a strategic choice from bosses, who hope to capitalise on the region’s ‘destination appeal’ and offer visitors a new ‘day out’ option on their countryside breaks.
There’s certainly no shortage of things to do locally, and the so-called ‘gateway to the Cotswolds’ attracts a steady stream of tourists for its character-filled streets riverside setting.
Tewkesbury Nature Reserve is perfect if you want to get away from it all, while the 12th Century Tewkesbury Abbey and Tewkesbury Museum offer a glimpse into the area’s rich history.
Plus, it’s easily accessible from around the UK: by car, you’re looking ataround two-and-a-half hours from London or an hour from Birmingham. Alternatively, regular trains run between Gloucester to Ashchurch for Tewkesbury, with the journey taking just under 20 minutes.

I thought I was a 36D – until a bra expert told me I was way off (and totally changed how I shop)
Metro journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission – learn more
You may not have really considered it before, but bras – specifically ones that fit well – are a true art form, and finding one that actually fits isn’t easy. Until now.
Just the other day, at the grand old age of 26, I found out that not only was I wearing the wrong bra size, but that I was two cups and two band sizes out from my real size. That’s right, my 36D was actually a 32FF, and I was flabbergasted.
The revelation came at a breakfast event where I met the wonderful Katie Weir (Weir Wonderful), a professional Bra Expert, who took one look at my chest and broke it to me that what I was wearing (and had been wearing for the past five years at least), was wrong.
‘I’ve never been measured,’ I’d told her, just slightly ashamed of the confession. She’d asked me what size I wore, and on my revelation of 36D she had smiled and told me that, respectfully, that wasn’t quite right.
And while I was sceptical, Katie turned out to be completely on the money.
Katie is a Bra Expert who offers lingerie expertise, virtual fittings and more to help you get your perfect fit, even working alongside brands to help inspire shoppers.
I’d recently seen her on Instagram and TikTok thanks to her work with Curvy Kate where she’s known as ‘The Curvy Kate Bra Whisperer’, taking to the streets of London with Jackie Adedeji in her bra and knickers to help ‘Uplift the Nation’ and educate women on getting the correct bra size. What’s not to love?
But how is it that myself, and many other women, end up spending such a large portion of their lives wearing the wrong size bra?
‘Busy lives!’ Katie told me. ‘People don’t realise they need to have a bra fitting every six months and when time flies, it is easier to stay in the wrong fitting bra.’
‘We need to be making a regular bra fitting part of our schedule. Make it fun, go with your friends or have a virtual fitting which is where you don’t even have to leave your home!’
And a virtual fitting I received.
After sizing me up at breakfast Katie sent me over some -stunning- Curvy Kate bras to try in 32FF and gave me a zoom call to help make sure they were the right size.
After showing me how to correctly put on a bra (there’s a knack, trust me, and it includes shimmying your bra up at the front and scooping your boob up within the cup), she made sure I knew just how it should fit, which spoiler, was different to what I had expected.
The right fit
From underwires digging into your armpits, bulging cups and backbands riding up, to digging-in shoulder straps, using the tightest hook-and-eye and floating underwires, Katie told me that there were plenty of common signs that showed an ill-fitting bra.
Band:
‘A well-fitting bra will feel like a hug around your body from the underband. Your straps and backband should have a ’two finger’ tension which is where you can pop two fingers under the strap or backband and pull away less than an inch. This is the sign of a backband offering 80% support.’
Straps:
‘The sliders on your straps should be used and not abused, so stay in tune with that two-finger tension and as you wash and wear the bra if you feel like you are lacking in support, tighten the back band first before the straps to ensure that you are getting 80% of that support from there.’
Cups:
‘The cups of your bra should encapsulate your breast tissue with zero spillage or bulging. The cup should sit firmly against the top cup of your breast without any gaping. Your wires should reach right around all of your breast tissue so that when you press down they touch on bone rather than breast.’
When I say this call with Katie was amazing, I truly mean it.
She explained to me how many women have had bad bra fitting experiences in their lives, so they just navigate bra shopping alone and buy what they know.
It made me think of my shyness and embarrassment growing up of the idea of being poked and prodded in an M&S changing room. An idea that I hadn’t realised had kept me from wearing the correct bra for 13 years of my bra-wearing life.
Katie’s mission is to ‘change the lingerie shopping experience to one that is fun, educational, easy and something you want to tell your friends about’ – and she really did exactly this.
We need to be making a regular bra fitting part of our schedule. Make it fun, go with your friends or have a virtual fitting which is where you don’t even have to leave your home!
Quote Quote
In fact, the zoom call felt more akin to a catch up with a friend than something that I used to consider as sterile. And the best part? I didn’t even have to leave the house.
Book your virtual bra fitting with Katie Weir here.
I was most shocked during the fitting experience just how well the cups fit me and how much tighter my backband was – I’d always been a ‘tight straps, more support’ believer, and turns out that couldn’t be more wrong.
Common bra myths
When to comes to bras, I really feel like there’s so much the public (including myself) just don’t know. Do padded bras give you better shape? Will my bra from 10 years ago still fit me now? Katie ironed a few things out for us.
Marks on the underband mean your bra is too tight.
‘The back band must hug and hold our body which, just like jeans and socks, will leave marks.
‘Trust me, a firm hold on the underband is so much better than the weight of your bust coming down onto your shoulders and leaving red marks, as well as leading to pain and poor posture.’
You are the same bra size your whole life.
‘Unlike your feet, your boobs fluctuate with weight and hormones which means your bra size will change as your body does. I recommend having a professional bra fitting every six months, as this allows you to live in comfort and support for the body that you have at every stage of your life.
‘Treat it like a GP/Dentist appointment but just more fun as you might walk away with some gorgeous new lingerie rather than a root canal filling.’
Your straps hold up your boobs and give them the lift.
‘The lift and support comes from the backband of your bra and this is why it needs to be a firm fit to lift up the bust.’
Padded Bras give the best shape.
‘Non-padded bras sit closer to the breast tissue which give a better shape for the bust you have, especially ladies who have bottom heavy/softer top cup boobs.
We want a non-padded bra which hugs the tissue rather than it sitting at the bottom of a molded up on the inside but giving the illusion of a full cup on the outside.’
White bras are best under white tops.
‘The best bra for under a white top is a colour closest to your skin tone or RED!’
After my fitting with Katie, I couldn’t believe how much better I felt – supported, lifted, and honestly, a little bit smug.
If you’re in need of a fitting then I couldn’t recommend a virtual fitting with Katie Weir more. She’s knowledgeable, insightful and downright lovely to talk to. She put me at ease and I’ve come out the other end with the correct bra size without any awkward moments.

I visited the UK’s biggest Tesco with Costco-style bulk buys and its very own Greggs
Tesco has long been my go-to supermarket, and I’ve always thought of my local branch as being pretty well-stocked. Turns out, it’s but a shadow of what the good people of Greater Manchester enjoy.
The country’s largest Tesco, in Walkden, is the UK’s biggest supermarket full stop – and one of the most sizeable in Europe.
Occupying an incredible 104,797 square feet, this Tesco is about the size of a Manhattan city block and twice as big as Bill Gates’s house.
Incidentally, that also leaves it eight times bigger than Manchester Cathedral, just 30 minutes to the east.
Technically a ‘hypermarket’, the store features many concessions, and more than a few features I’d never seen in any other Tesco.
Arriving at Tesco Walkden
Honestly, my first impressions were a bit… meh. The store didn’t look nearly as vast as my imagination had led me to believe. When you hear ‘the UK’s largest Tesco’, the mind conjures up images of a giant retail metropolis, possibly resembling the exterior of the Death Star (only with a big Clubcard sticker on it).
However, from the outside, the store looks pretty much like any other Tesco Extra. It’s obviously large, but it’s tough to get an idea of the scale of it – that is, until I walked inside.
The size of the place really does hit you immediately. The ceilings seem impossibly high, and I count close to 40 aisles of groceries alone (there are over 60 aisles in total).
It took me two minutes and six seconds to do the 187 steps to get from one end of the shop to the other. Yes, I really did count.
While you’ll notice a lot of your everyday Tesco favourites, many of these have been supersized.
The bakery, for example, is pretty extensive, offering all the classics from sweet treats to pastries and freshly baked bread. Considering I was visiting around lunchtime on a Friday, it was still really well stocked.
The fruit and veg section also occupies a ridiculous amount of space, right in the heart of the store, and the F&F clothing rails could be an entire shop in itself.
F&F had a massive sale on too, and I was severely tempted by a navy zip-up, which was 50% off at just £11.
A lot of Tesco staples you’ll find in other local branches are on offer, but I noticed an abundance of ‘XL’ sizes and larger variety packs that aren’t as easy to find.
There are more than a few bargains to be found amongst the shelves, but I found the Home section to be particularly rich in cheap discounted trinkets.
A candlelight 3D bunny mug was a rather adorable purchase at £2, with some fitted sheets (£3), F&F tea towels (£2), and oven gloves (£2.50) also reduced to clear.
A beige ottoman (yes, this store even does furniture), down from £35 to £25 for Clubcard holders struck me as a pretty good price, with side tables, meal trays, and shelving all priced under £20, too.
In the wider store, a 32″ Sharp TV with 25% off for Clubcard customers (£139, down from £189) also stuck out, as well as the 40″ version below it with £30 off (£189, down from £219), and a Fly HoverVac 250 also with a third off at just £60.
What makes Tesco Walkden different
Now, the big question: what makes this big Tesco different from the rest?
Well, Tesco Walkden features a total of nine concessions (stores within stores, if you will) that include some you might expect (Tesco Mobile store, Tesco pharmacy, Tesco Café) and some you probably wouldn’t, like a Yo! Sushi counter, a Holland and Barrett, Vision Express, Max Spielman Photo Expert, Early Learning Centre and The Entertainer.
While I found the meal deal selection a little underwhelming, the reason for this immediately became apparent when I realised that this branch of Tesco literally has its own Greggs. Not just a counter, but an actual store. What a winner.
Tesco Walkden also has another unique offering: its ‘Bulk Buy’ section.
Reminding me of Costco, the Bulk Buys offer huge packs of all sorts of everyday essentials at an additional discount.
Some of the standouts here included eight rolls of ‘Plenty’ kitchen roll for just over a tenner, a 24-variety box of Seabrook crisps for £4.75, and what can only be described as a giant vat containing 10 litres of sunflower oil for £17.
While honourable mentions go to the XXXL Surf Mega box and 20 pack of Kinder Buenos, the two highlights had to be a huge 400g jar of Douwe Egbert’s coffee at £15, and 600 Tetley teabags at £12 per (giant) bag. Although, I’m strictly an Earl Grey man at heart.
Oh, and it also has an autonomous laundrette in the car park. That was a first for me, and I can definitely see the advantage of having a load on while you do your weekly food shop.
The store is clearly a hit with the locals, with one regular shopper telling me there’s actually a smaller branch closer to where she lives, but she prefers coming to Walkden, ‘for the bigger selection’.
‘Plus, it has a Greggs!’ she concluded, excitedly.
I mean, I get it.
What did I buy from the UK’s biggest Tesco?
Truth be told, not much.
Unfortunately, a sizeable commute by public transport hampered my ability to actually complete the big shop, as the last thing anyone needs is a whole chicken slowly defrosting next to them on the 1.41pm from Oxford Road.
However, I did make use of the Greggs to grab my lunch (including the obligatory vegan sausage roll), some delightful scented candles at £2, and a big tube of Pringles at £1.95 (Clubcard price).
And, yes, I also bought the bunny mug, but I swear that’s a gift.
How to get to Tesco Walkden
If you’re driving, the hypermarket has over 900 car parking spaces.
However, if you’re travelling by public transport, the store is just a 10 to 15-minute walk from Walkden Station. There are also a couple of bus stops practically right outside.
